LIFESTYLE 1 — the set on a real desk in a real flat. Painted-over radiator with a visible bracket, uPVC frame, beige speckle carpet, a mug ring, a charger in the socket. Overcast daylight from one window. Engraved with a real name.

WHITE HERO — on #FFFFFF, ≥800px, Shopping-feed compliant. The only sterile frame in the set, and it exists for the feed, not for the page.

MACRO ENGRAVING at ~1:1, raking light 15–25° so the char catches shadow. Grain running through the letterforms, slight fibre lift at the cut edge — the proof it is burned into wood and not printed.

A bamboo desk set, engraved with one name, sized in centimetres before you buy it. Two pieces or three.

We haven’t had one of these in our hands yet, so every figure above is the manufacturer’s. We’ll measure the sample ourselves and correct this page — with a dated line at the foot of it — the week it lands.
Measure your desk first. Most things sold as ‘compact’ aren’t.
Will it fit?
Measure the clear run along the back of your desk, and the front-to-back depth. Both in centimetres. Nothing is sent anywhere — this works in your browser.
Not sure where to measure from? The Small-Flat Measuring Guide covers the four measurements people forget. It isn’t written yet, so there is nothing to download —put your name down and you’ll get it the day it is.
This isn’t for you if…
- …you want it under £30.
- Buy the Woodluv 3-Drawer Bamboo desk organiser (£29.95,4.5★) or the Hacaroa 3-Tier desk organiser (£29.99, 4.6★). Both are good. Ours costs more because it’s engraved and comes as a set — that’s the only difference worth paying for.
- …you want solid oak that’ll outlive the desk.
- Oakywood’s Solid-oak desk shelf system starts at about £120, converted from the $164 their own site charges, and is better made than anything we sell. Ours is bamboo.
- …you need it this week.
- You can’t have it this week, and we’re not going to imply otherwise. Nothing has been made yet — this page is us finding out whether the first run is worth cutting. If it’s a birthday on Saturday, buy something local.
We don’t earn anything if you buy any of these. We’re not in the Amazon affiliate programme.
Getting it to you, and sending it back
Dispatch
We can’t give you a date yet, and we’re not going to make one up. Nothing has been cut: this page exists to find out whether the first run is worth making. When it is, the plan is engrave-to-order and then ship — and the pieces come from our supplier in China, not from a warehouse in Britain. We’ll email every date and every number to the people who reserved, before anyone is asked for money.
You’ll see other shops in this category promise UK next-day on the same product. We’d have to lie to write that, so we haven’t.
Returns
Unengraved items: 30 days, free, we pay the postage. Send it back for any reason or none.
Engraved items: personalised goods are the one exception to the 14-day change-of-mind return — under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, anything made to your specification is exempt, because we can’t sell someone else’s name. So we do two things instead. One: we email you a picture of the engraving layout and cut nothing until you approve it. Two: if anything is wrong — a fault, damage in transit, or a mistake in our engraving — we remake it or refund you in full, and you don’t post it back.
Your rights for faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply either way, engraved or not. Full detail on our returns page.
Why this exists
A desk organiser is a solved problem at £20. There are dozens of them, most are fine, and we say so on this page and in the guides. What isn’t solved is the one you’d give someone: the cheap ones are anonymous, and the ones with a name on them are usually a printed sticker on a moulded tray.
So this is a set rather than a single tray, and the name is burned into the wood rather than printed on it. That’s the whole difference, and it’s the only reason the price is what it is. Everything else about it is ordinary bamboo, and we’re not going to pretend the bamboo is the point.
The practical consequence: it stays put on a desk without a fixing, it comes apart into separate pieces when you move, and there is nothing to make good when you hand the keys back.
That matters more in a rented flat than any amount of finish quality.
The engraving, close up
Photograph — not yet shot
Macro at ~1:1 with raking light at 15–25°. You should be able to read the DEPTH of the burn and see the grain running through the letterforms. A real name — never YOUR NAME HERE.
The laser burns roughly 0.3 mm into the surface, which is deep enough that you can feel it with a thumbnail and shallow enough that it doesn’t weaken the panel. That figure is the manufacturer’s and we haven’t verified it. When we have a sample we’ll measure it with a gauge and correct this line if it’s wrong.
What’s in the set
- Two pieces — £59.99: Drawer tray, Pen and cable block. Footprint 32.0 × 14.5 cm.
- Three pieces — £79.99: Drawer tray, Pen and cable block, Phone and key dish. Footprint 42.5 × 14.5 cm.
- One engraving, on the drawer tray front, included at no extra charge.
Care & materials
Bamboo with a plant-oil finish. Wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it. Don’t stand a wet mug on it and don’t put it in front of a radiator — bamboo moves with humidity and a hot dry spot will open the joints eventually. If the surface goes dull after a couple of years, a teaspoon of any food-safe oil brings it back.
Reviews
0 reviews. Nobody owns one yet, so there is nothing here. We will never write, buy, import or trade a review for a discount, and there is no star rating in this page’s structured data because there is no star rating to report. When the first real ones arrive they’ll be marked verified buyer with an order number, and the one- and two-star ones will be published unedited with our reply underneath.
Read the guide before you buy
This page is us selling you something. The guide is us comparing everything in the category, including things we don’t sell, with the prices and the centimetres side by side. Start there if you’re not sure.
Questions
Am I being charged anything today?
No. There is no card field on this page and no basket anywhere on this site. A reserve is your email address and which set you’d want. If we make the first run we’ll email you the real price and the real lead time, and you decide then.
When would I actually get it?
We don’t know, and anyone in this category who tells you next day is either holding UK stock or lying. We’re not holding UK stock. When the run is costed we’ll publish the real window here and email it to everyone who reserved.
Can I have it without the engraving?
Yes, and the price is the same. Leave the field blank. An unengraved set also keeps the full 30-day free return, because it isn’t made to your specification.
What can the laser cut?
Letters, numbers, spaces, apostrophes and hyphens, up to 16 characters on the first line and 24 on the optional second. Accents are fine. Emoji aren’t — there’s nothing for the beam to cut.
What if you spell it wrong?
You approve a picture of the layout before anything is cut, so it shouldn’t get that far. If it does — our error, a fault, or damage in transit — we remake it or refund you in full and you don’t post it back.
Is bamboo any good?
It’s hard, light and cheap, and it is not solid oak. If you want something that will outlive the desk, we’ve named who to buy that from.

Nothing yet. This is the first thing we’ve made, and a “you may also like” rail with one product in it would be furniture pretending to be a shop.
Corrections
Nothing to correct yet — this page is new. When we get a figure wrong we’ll put the date and the old number here rather than quietly editing it.
